Sub-committee being formed for splash pad in Espanola

Espanola council has reviewed the merits of having a splash pad constructed in Espanola.

Town CAO Cynthia Townsend says council reviewed reports from Public Works and other departments as to the feasibility of installing the play structure and has given the go-ahead to look further into the project.

Townsend adds Public Works has done a complete analysis on locating it on the Espanola Regional Recreation property, which is a good starting point for the fundraising to begin.

In August, project proponent Melanie Blais told council she is willing to raise the $220,000 needed within the community.

Townsend says the council has agreed to form a sub-committee to begin the process.

The proposed size of the splash pad is just under 2,700 square feet with wheel-chair and special needs access.
