McIntyre Powder Project updated by founder

Janice Martell, a miner’s daughter was in Elliot Lake updating the public and medical staff about the McIntyre Powder Project.

Martell founded the project, which is a voluntary registry to document health issues in miners or other workers who were exposed to McIntyre Powder aluminum dust in their workplaces.

She held a public session this week in Elliot Lake and part of her visit was also spent with doctors at St. Joseph General Hospital explaining how important medical and work histories are to the project.

Martell says she is also working closely with Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers, OHCOW in compiling the information.

She adds other sessions are planned for Kirkland Lake and Red Lake.
