Barrier-free features and accessibility are two key components of a retrofit for a medical hotel, the House of Kin in Sudbury.
Karly Bortolotti, the fundraising/marketing coordinator for the House of Kin says many people needing medical care access the facility and thanks to a $100,000 donation from two Manitoulin Island businesses, Near North Customs Brokers and Manitoulin Transport, a retrofit is underway.
She says the front foyer will be renovated to accommodate guests with various needs including installing features for those who face physical challenges.
She adds that will assist patients and/or their loved ones have a comfortable stay while receiving treatment.
