Elliot Lake OPP has confirmed a local missing man and another charged in his death were roommates.
OPP Constable Kyle Ney says police arrested 34-year-old Shawn Cote in Vancouver in connection with the disappearance of 62-year old James Lee Money of Elliot Lake.
Ney confirms in June an area of the Elliot Lake landfill was cordoned off as part of the investigation into Money’s disappearance in the summer of 2018.
Ney added charges can be laid and a conviction made without the victim’s remains, but pointed out they are waiting for DNA results.
However, he would not say where the pair lived, how long they shared the same residence or how long Cote was in British Columbia.
