Fainting motorist knocks over headstones

There has been some damage done to headstones at the Espanola Cemetery, but it was not vandalism.

Dave Parker, Espanola’s Public Works Assistant says a crew had to go out on Wednesday to erect barricades for the public’s safety.

He says a motorist had a medical issue and fainted while driving in the cemetery knocking over three headstones.

Parker adds the motorist will be working with the families to have the stones repaired and/or returned to their original state.
