Elders in the community of Whitefish River First Nation will have access to a new Elders’ Residential Centre within the next few months.
Chief Franklin Paibomsai says the Elders residence has long been a focus for the First Nation, which boasts a community of some 200 households.
Paibomsai says there will be eight housing units as well as common areas in the new $2.6-million centre.
He adds the community broke ground on the project a week ago Monday and if all goes well could be ready for early Spring 2020.
The new centre is designed by Perry & Perry Architects and is being constructed by Lignum Builders.
