Survey underway in local area focusing on drug use

The LaCloche Foothills Drug Strategy Committee wants the public’s help when it comes to putting together programs to help people overcome drug and substance addictions.

The committee is asking for the public to take part in an online survey, which features seven questions and should take about 15 minutes to complete.

Residents of Espanola, Sables-Spanish Rivers, Baldwin, Nairn & Hyman, and Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation are asked to take part.

The plan will focus on increasing awareness, providing education, reducing emergency and hospital visits related to substances, and improving addiction services and supports.

The mission is to use evidence-informed decision making to prevent and reduce substance misuse through the development and enhancement of policies, programs, and services within the Lacloche area.

The survey features seven questions with room for comments and suggestions.

The answers the public provide in the survey are completely anonymous. No one will be asked to provide any identifying information, such as name or address. Participation is voluntary, you may skip questions, or choose to stop the survey at any time.

The committee will report on themes that emerge from community responses and may use non-identifiable quotes to highlight key themes.

No risks are expected from your participation in this survey. However, if answering questions about drugs and alcohol causes you distress, you may reach out to the Crisis Line – Toll-free: 1-877-841-1101 (24 hour hotline: 365 days/year) or First Nations and Inuit Hope for Wellness Help Line: Toll free: 1-855-242-3310 (24 hour hotline: 365 days/year).
The survey has been prepared by the Lacloche Foothills Drug Strategy and the responses will be handled by a researcher at Public Health Sudbury & Districts. Your participation, or decision not to participate, is anonymous and voluntary and will not impact any services that you may receive from Public Health Sudbury & Districts or other Lacloche Foothills Drug Strategy member agencies.
