It took Manitoulin OPP all day Friday to finally catch up with an Azilda man who led police on a high-speed chase from Manitoulin Island to Azilda.
Police was called about a robbery at a cottage in Mindemoya where a man also demanded keys to the cottager’s vehicle at knifepoint.
Police say the 23-year-old man took off to in the stolen vehicle and managed to elude police all the way from Manitoulin Island to Azilda, a distance of 168 kilometres.
He was arrested outside that night and charged with robbery with a weapon, dangerous driving, possession of a dangerous weapon, failure to comply with a recognizance and driving while under suspension.
