SPORTS 10K purses handed out at weekend drag event

Ten thousand dollar purses were handed out to the top prize winners this past weekend at the 20th Annual North Shore Challenge Drag Race.

Hundreds of people took in the two-day event held this past weekend at the Elliot Lake Airport Dragway to see some 300 entries compete in the various race classes.

The top winners have now been announced.

The winner of Saturday’s Super Pro Race $10,000 purse was Jamie Clarmo. Second place was notched by Ashleigh Ogilvie who walked away with $1,000.
The $10,000 top prize winner in Sunday’s Super Pro race was Brandon Barker. Second was Dave Rennie who won $1,000.
In the Semi-Pro Division, Mike Armstrong took the $2,500 top prize on Saturday. The next day Ashley Muttart took the big money in the same race.
The winner of Saturday’s Motorcycle/Snowmobile class was Ashley Spencer. The winner of the street class that day was Greg Hall and the winner of the Junior Pro was Ashton Savoie.
Rounding out the winner’s circle on Sunday, in the Street, Junior and Sled/Bike groupings; the winner in Junior Pro was Rebecca Wellwood and the Sled/Bike category was topped by Yves Beaudry.
