Framework Agreement signed with several Manitoulin Island First Nations

Another step forward has been taken in reconciliation for First Nations on Manitoulin Island.

The Government of Canada and the United Chiefs and Councils of Mnidoo Mnising Tribal Council announced on Tuesday the signing of a Framework Agreement, marking an important step to advance reconciliation and renew Canada’s relationship with five Manitoulin First Nations.
The agreement was signed by Carolyn Bennett, the Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Chief Patsy Corbiere, Tribal Chair of the United Chiefs and Councils of Mnidoo Mnising and Chief of Aundeck Omni Kaning.
The agreement sets the stage for moving forward in partnership to address shared priorities through ongoing negotiations.
