BREAKING NEWS: DROWNING ON FERRY

Manitoulin OPP says a woman has drowned after a fall from the ferry.
Constable Marie Ford says on Friday at approximately 11:26 pm, officers from the Manitoulin and Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police detachments responded to a report of a female falling overboard from the ferry, the Chi-Cheemaun, travelling from South Baymouth to Tobermory in Lake Huron.
With the assistance of the Canadian Coast Guard, and the Manitoulin OPP Marine unit, the female was located deceased.
Ford says through their investigation it is believed that she jumped from the ferry while it was in motion.
Her identity will not be released, but police now say she was a 20-year-old from Brampton, Ontario.
The Manitoulin OPP say the death is not being considered suspicious.
In a statement, Susan Schrempf, president and CEO of the Owen Sound Transportation Company, which runs the Chi-Cheemaun, stated, “We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of this passenger in this time of tragic loss.
“Out of respect to those who have lost their dear friend and family member, we will not be making any further public statements.”
