Residents of Elliot Lake are being asked to respect the construction zone around the Elliot Lake Boat Launch and Boardwalk area for the next two weeks.
Economic Development Coordinator, Ashten Vlahovich (Vlah-hoe-vich), says the fishing pier is being hauled into the city in separate loads with installation taking place over the next two weeks.
Vlahovich adds once the pier is safely installed, the site will reopen to the public.
This is the first portion of Phase 2 of the project that will include the installation of the fully accessible floating 50 metre fishing pier.
However, she adds periodic closures will re-occur as other elements are installed in the future such as shade structures, seating, lighting, and the same non-slip finishes with final completion this summer.
