Remains identified in Hanmer – foul play suspected

Police say although the file into a missing Sudbury man has been ongoing, there is still no new information about the disappearance in 1996.

Greater Sudbury Police say foul play is suspected in the death of Alexander Sretenovic whose skull and bones were found in a wooded area off Nelson Lake Road, west of Demarais Road in the Valley a week ago Saturday.

The coroner’s office and police confirmed he has been missing since 1996 and was last seen on August 14th of that year, leaving his residence on Elm Street around 11:30 pm.

Police said the cause of death has not yet been determined.

His disappearance was considered suspicious at the time and the criminal investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crimestoppers.
