Some people avoid going out in public because of allergens and other triggers, but Espanola council hopes to alleviate some of those concerns by implementing a scent free policy in all municipally owned buildings.
Council gave its approval for the new policy this week, which recognizes the needs of people who suffer from asthma and allergies inducted by individuals.
Staff will be trained on the new policy and how to deal with different scenarios including having the authority to ask individuals to leave the premises if they are causing distress.
Signage will also be installed in all locations.
