Solicitor General hopes police leaders can deal with funding cuts

The OPP will be dealing with less funding after cuts the provincial budget was announced. The Progressive Conservatives say they are cutting $46 million, mostly from “field and traffic services.” The solicitor general hopes OPP leaders will be able to deal with the new budget and a spokesperson says the reduction is a result of streamlining and vehicle maintenance.

U.S. and China tariff dispute rages on

America added $300 billion to a list of tariff hikes on Chinese imports. The dispute is causing fears about economic growth globally. The announcement came after China made their own increases of up to 25 percent on $60 billion worth of American imports. The list of Chinese products the United States has increased tariffs on has grown to almost 4,000.

Weed killer to blame for a husband and wife getting cancer

Monsanto has been ordered to pay a couple over $2 billion for one of its products giving them cancer. The agribusiness’ popular weed killer Roundup Ready was accused of causing non-Hodgkin lymphoma in the two. It is the third courtroom loss for the company in less than a year. Lawyers for Monsanto will be appealing the decision.
