Baby boy born to British royal family in London; An increase to the Canada Child Benefit program

Harry and Meghan welcome baby boy

The newest member of the Royal family was born this morning but a lot of details are being kept quiet. We know Meghan and Harry welcomed the baby boy at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. The name hasn’t been released yet but the betting favourites so far for a boy are Albert, Arthur and James. The couple wants to celebrate privately before making more information available to the public.

Canadian parents to get a financial boost.

The federal government is preparing to announce an increase to the Canada Child Benefit program. It is expected to come into effect on July 20. The current program began in 2016 and provides families with a tax-free monthly payment to help with the cost of raising children under 18-years-old.

Canada turns to U.S. to mend relationship with China.

Canada is looking south of the border to help settle their dispute with China. A report from CTV said officials from Canada want the U.S. to speak directly to China on behalf of Ottawa. Relations between Canada and China deteriorated after the arrest of a high ranking Huawei executive in Vancouver. China is currently not accepting some Canadian pork and canola products.

Boeing didn’t report problem with new planes. 

Apparently, Boeing didn’t tell U.S. regulators it accidentally turned an alarm off that alerted pilots of a problem. The company still insists the missing display posed no safety risks. Data from a sensor that measures the angle the wing slices through the air is suspected of triggering software that pushed the plane downward in two recent crashes.
