Algoma communities get $400,000 each for taking part in nuclear waste process

Elliot Lake, Blind River, Spanish and the Township of the North Shore have $400,000 each to spend.  The money is from the Nuclear Waste Management Organization.  It’s a sort of thank you for being involved in the search to find a community to accept nuclear waste.  Blind River and Elliot Lake made the short-list to remain candidates, but not the other two communities.  The communities can use the grants to pay for programs that help all age groups or they can be used for energy efficiency projects or economic development.  Also White River and Manitouwadge remain candidates to host the nuclear waste.
