The family and friends of an Elliot Lake woman, mother and beloved teacher who has advanced cancer.

France Gauthier has taught at Ecole St-Joseph in Blind River for the past 12 years, but nearly two years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which has spread to her bones, lungs and liver.

A resident of Elliot Lake, hospitals in Canada are no longer able to help her, so she is receiving alternate treatment at CMN Hospital in Mexico.

A triple spaghetti dinner is being held at Blossoms in Elliot Lake on Sunday, April 28th with three seatings: noon, 2:00pm and 5:00pm.

A go fund me has also been set up.

France is a loving, proud, devoted mother to Alexie and Jayden. She lives her life to the fullest and friends and family have come together to help in her battle against cancer. She is fighting like a boss.

France was an exceptional social worker, but found her true vocation twelve years ago, teaching at Ecole St-Joseph in Blind River. Her role as a teacher is very clear, it’s to remind her students of their self-worth. Her constant encouragement, silly behaviour and devotion are all part of her excellence in teaching. She goes above and beyond to inspire each student to succeed. With her creative mind, her ambitiousness, her compassion, her generosity, her contagious laughter and her warm heartedness, she is able to fill everyone’s hearts with love and joy. That’s how she became everyone’s favourite teacher!

Pink ‘fight like a boss’ bracelets are also available.

The dinner will feature a number of door prizes, thanks to the generosity of the wider public.

Tickets for the dinner are $15 each, they can be picked up at Blossoms or Looks Hair Salon in Elliot Lake, and at The Source in Blind River, or call 705- 849-8970.
