Rainbow board promotes Eat Local Day

On Thursday, students under the Rainbow board are being encouraged to eat local.  That means for students who brown bag it to school, try to include food that’s been grown in the region as part of your lunch.  The high school cafeterias plan to have area grown food for sale.  They include potatoes from Azilda, cheese from Warren and apples, carrots and maple syrup from Lavigne.  The school board is promoting eating food grown within a 150 mile of radius of Sudbury.  The goal is to reduce our carbon footprint by not having to ship food as far and to also support regional farmers.
