A local area film-maker is producing a short 15-minute comedy film that focuses on pregnant couples.

Jayson Stewart says the comedy short, Overdue, was written by best-selling North Bay screenwriter, Marla J. Hayes and focuses on a happenstance meeting in an obstetrician’s office between two very different, very pregnant couples.

Stewart says it will be filmed at the Nature’s Nook Wellness Centre, which just opened in Massey.

The crew and cast is all in place for filming in April.

The film is also supported by local funding. The budget is $1,500 and Stewart says they have reached about 92% of their goal. He also designs faerie doors, miniatures that are all hand-made and provided as a fundraiser. Anyone wishing to donate to the project will also receive credit on the film. He also invite everyone to join their Facebook group and cheerlead their progress: https://www.facebook.com/groups/overduefilm/

They are collecting snacks, juice, and home cooking to feed the volunteer cast and crew and need people who have the room to offer a place for the cast and crew to stay for one or two nights. Stewart can be found on Facebook.

Of note, Stewart’s last production, The Philanthropist, was also picked up by the Berlin Underground Festival where male lead, Dylon Whyte of Gore Bay won for Best Actor.
