Counterfeit money, stealing gas and a high speed chase has five Quebecers facing several charges.
East Algoma OPP Constable, Bev Gauthier, says a week ago Monday, shortly after 9:00am, a gas station in Spanish called them about a man paying for gas with two counterfeit $20 bills.
He provided a description of the suspect red SUV, which was spotted heading west on Highway 17. Sometimes reaching speeds of 135 kilometres per hour, police decided to set up a forced stop near Blind River and took three men, a woman and a female teenager into custody.
Police found suspected counterfeit money, credit cards, social insurance cards, driver’s licenses and a small amount of marihuana inside the vehicle.
The charges range from theft over $5,000 to fraud over $5,000, possession of counterfeit money and possession of credit card.
