High speed chase results in charges

The man who involved East Algoma OPP in a high speed chase this week faces a slew of charges.  Among them are four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.  The 19-year-old is from Nova Scotia and was driving a stolen SUV also from Nova Scotia.  Police became aware of the man after getting a call about stolen gas from a Massey station.   Police stopped the SUV east of Blind River but while the officer was checking out the vehicle, the driver sped away resulting in the pursuit.  Several cruisers were damaged along the way and the chase ended in Iron Bridge where the man had taken off on foot and was caught.  The man remains in custody.  Other charges include possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight while being pursued by police and theft under $5,000.OPP logo
