An Espanola diabetes educator is receiving accolades for her work in developing a fitness program that has gone global.
Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP, Carol Hughes, stood up in Parliament Wednesday to tell her counterparts about Susan Clarke, saying Clarke noticed a gap for those who needed to exercise and she put together a program for her clients, calling it From Soup to Tomatoes.
Clarke knew any program had to be free, easily accessible, designed to address mobility issues, and above all, be led by a professional to ensure safety and avoid injuries.
The classes are not only offered globally, since 2006 and now have a global audience on YouTube, allowing for people to exercise anywhere; in their home, a class setting or in remote locations.
Hughes emphasizes its success has helped saved thousands of dollars in health care.
