Death in Sudbury jail focus of inquest

The death of a young man who died while in police custody will be the focus of an inquest.

Regional Supervising Coroner for the North Region, Dr. David Cameron, says there will be an inquest into the death of Dextin Laface.

The 19-year-old died in hospital on August 6th, 2017, after a transfer from the Sudbury Jail.
An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest is expected to last two days and hear from approximately six witnesses.

Dr. Steven Bodley will preside as inquest coroner and Bailey Rudnick will be counsel to the coroner.

The inquest will be held on Monday, April 8th at the Sudbury Court House.
