A band of freezing rain, mixed at times with ice pellets, will move through Northeastern Ontario tonight. The freezing precipitation has reached areas extending from near Sudbury across Elliot Lake and Manitoulin and will spread to remaining regions this evening.
The freezing precipitation will change over to plain rain or drizzle near midnight as temperature briefly nudge above the zero degree mark except in areas such as Elliot Lake and Thessalon where the freezing precipitation will change over to a few flurries.
Ice buildup of 5 to 10 mm is possible during this freezing rain event.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.
