Weapons and trafficking charges laid following RIDE check stop

A RIDE check has netted Espanola OPP what they believe to be a trafficking operation in the local area.

OPP Media officer, Marie Ford, says officers pulled over a vehicle Saturday morning around 1:15am, for a routine RIDE check, which turned out to be anything but.

Officers found a hand gun, around $8,400 and suspected cocaine when they searched the vehicle.

Ford says as a result, all three face several similar charges including possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a firearm and careless storage among others.

The 18-year-old of no fixed address, 27-year-old woman from Sagamok and 28-year old man from Wikwemikong appeared in bail court in Sudbury yesterday.
