One of Espanola’s youngest needs help

He is literally the size of his father’s hand.

One of Espanola’s newest citizens, Alexander Hartley Sheppard Junior, arrived barely two weeks ago on January 15th, two and a half months early weighing in at just 2.12 pounds.

His parents, Alex Sheppard and Avery Laurin have been going back and forth to the Sudbury Natal Critical Care Unit ever since.

Over the weekend, the family was flown to Toronto Sick Kids Hospital for a permanent IV to be inserted to help tiny Alex fight a bout of meningitis that developed last week.

The baby is now back in Sudbury, but he will require ongoing care for a while.

To that end, a Go Fund Me has been set up to assist the family with costs not covered by any supportive program.

Donations are appreciated.
