Food drives bring in tons of food

Students under the Rainbow board surpassed a food drive by nearly doubling the original goal.  When the Kids Helping Kids Food Drive wrapped up, more than 175,000 food items had been collected.  The target was 100,000 articles of food.  In terms of weight, the food works out to more than 91 tons.    Education director Norm Blaseg is commending the students and public on Manitoulin, Espanola and Sudbury for their work and generosity.  Food banks in various communities served by the Rainbow board are now having the food delivered to them.
