Talk about rooster tails – funding for snow-making in Espanola

It is hoped the generosity of local clubs and businesses will mean a longer season for ski and snowboard enthusiasts in Espanola.

Espanola Ski Club general manager, Tom Hutchinson says they are making the white stuff on Boogie Mountain with a snow-making machine.

The purchase was $22,500 with the brunt of funding, $11,000, coming from the Espanola Lions Club.

Two snow guns were also purchased from Mount Dufour in Elliot Lake, with the cost covered by Rona in Massey and the other by Hutch Academy.

He adds even the local fire department donated some old hoses and the town donated the water for the trial year.

Hutchinson says the equipment will hopefully mean a longer season for the club.
