Local MPP disagrees with LHIN reduction

The local health critic believes there are no savings to be found by reducing the number of LHINS in Ontario.

NDP health critic and Nickel Belt MPP France Gelinas wonders why the Ford government would even consider reducing the number of Local Health Integration Networks across the province.

She says she doesn’t see how the change would save money.
Gelinas adds regional areas of Ontario should maintain control of their health care needs.

The Progressive Conservatives are looking at cutting the number of LHINs, which were created in 2007, from 14 to five.

Their mandate is to integrate local health care services and all 24 hospitals in the north-eastern region are part of the North-East LHINS.
