Espanola council will be discussing a school council’s request to put in place tough restrictions on smoking near school, as well as public places.
Sacred Heart School council will have a delegation at tonight’s meeting to ask council to eliminate smoking on public sidewalks and smoke free zones be increased to 25 metres at all public places including schools, recreation centres and parks.
Espanola High School students are not allowed to smoke near Espanola High, so they cross the street and smoke at the corner near Sacred Heart.
The public presentation will take place at 7:30pm in council chambers.
