Central Manitoulin has a vacancy on its council for Ward Three in Sandfield.
There was some discussion in December about declaring the seat vacant and having a smaller council.
However, CAO Ruth Frawly told council they must advertise the position for up to 60 days and anyone from Ward Three can apply.
If no one comes forward after the time limit, then the seat can be declared vacant.
Council is also checking with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs to ensure the legalities are followed, especially if the seat is declared vacant.
