OPP are looking to the public to assist them with information in regards to a historical sexual assault.

Blind River OPP Community Safety Officer, Constable Bev Gauthier says on November 29th, police began an investigation into a historical sexual assault, which is said to have occurred between January 1, 1985 and December 31, 2014.

As a result, former Blind River resident, 60-year-old Kim Shanahan of Sault Ste. Marie, has been charged with three counts of sexual assault, five counts of sexual interference and five counts of sexual assault of a person under 16 among others.

Gauthier says police are attempting to identify any other possible victims of similar crimes and anyone with information is asked to call OPP or Crimestoppers.
