The Smile cookie campaign in Espanola and McKerrow has raised an incredible $9,000 for the local food bank. Espanola’s Helping Hand Food Bank helps about two thousand people a year and one fifth of them are children. Last year when Tim Hortons ran the campaign, it ran out of cookies. To avoid a repeat, owner Denis Lefebvre got businesses to pre-order cookies so the outlets would know how many to bake. The idea worked and resulted in the huge payoff for the food bank.
