Sables-Spanish Rivers 4-H celebrates accomplishments

Sable-Spanish Rivers 4-H club members had a fabulous year.

Dianne Emiry says 4-H members and leaders gathered at S. Geiger Public School to celebrate their accomplishments in 2018 on Thursday, December 13th.

The Plowman’s Association Award for the Top Senior member was presented to Faith Emiry.

The club also selected three outstanding members to receive free memberships to 4-H for 2019: Leah Emiry, Chloe Day and Rachel Joyce.

Emiry adds the evening also featured the club’s Go for the Gold team who competed at the Provincial Go for the Gold competition in November, placing fourth in the province.

Members also received awards for participation and leadership.
Eight members were selected to receive Head, Heart, Hands, and Health awards.  They were Anabelle Ropp, Chessa Dorion, Max Meier, Morgan Wagler, Taryn Jerome, Kyara Vuorensyrja, Elizabeth Roy, and Alyssa Labelle.

The club also honoured members who will be graduating from secondary school in 2019, namely Faith Emiry, Heidi Meier, Makenna Constantin, Grayem Vuorensyrja, and Emily Camillo.  Faith, Heidi, and Makenna also received recognition for being Youth Leaders in 2018 along with Montana Brandow.  They were presented with 4-H backpacks through the Kubota Canada 4-H Youth Leader recognition program.

Emiry says the Sables-Spanish Rivers 4-H club extends a huge thank you to community members and organizations who helped with clubs and special events.
Thanks to that support, the club was able to offer 12 projects covering topics such as cooking with chocolate, crafts, dairy calf club, leadership, ukulele, and sports.

Another exciting year of 4-H will begin in January with membership night on Thursday, January 10th.  7:00 to 8:00 pm at S. Geiger Public School.
