Vanthof demands contractors get paid

The Minister of Energy is looking into a claim that contractors in the Timiskaming Shores area are owed $21-million.   Timiskaming-Cochrane MPP John Vanthof claims the contractors were hired to perform work on energy contracts but have not been paid.  He says the firm Canadian Solar got an energy contract for that region two years ago and it hired a subcontractor to do the work.  But then that subcontractor passed the work onto smaller contractors.  Vanthof says Canadian Solar made money on the project and now TransCanada Energy, which bought the project from Solar, is making money.  He says everyone made money except for the people who actually did the work.
