Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is getting some good ideas as he shores up support for his run at the Tory leadership. Fedeli met with municipal politicians in the Espanola area who talked to him about how commercial building taxes create an uneven playing field. The issue is being taxed on the value of what it cost to erect a new building compared to an older one that’s worth less and taxed less. Fedeli says the Espanola area politicians had a novel way to resolve this which is to cap taxes somewhere in between. He says this is an idea he’ll pursue as leader. He’s running against Christine Elliott, Monte McNaughton, Patrick Brown and Lisa MacLeod for the P-C leadership.
