Traffic slow down planned Friday at Serpent River First Nation

Commuters will be slowed down in Serpent River First Nation.

Motorists are being asked to watch for slowdowns on Highway 17 Friday afternoon due to First Nation members slowing down traffic to hand out information brochures between 1:00pm and 3:00pm.

Serpent River FN Chief Elaine Johnston says residents have grown tired of seeing motorists disregard speed limits of 70 km/h on Highway 17 near the trading post, and it’s time to send a message that the speeding needs to stop.

Pylons will be used to make a safety zone in the centre of Highway 17 where volunteers will hand out informational pamphlets to motorists, adds OPP Constable Bev Gauthier.
