Labour unrest in counselling services area

People with addictions and other problems in East Algoma might lose their services in the next while.  It’s because employees at the Counselling Centre of East Algoma have voted 78 percent to strike.  The employees have been negotiating for more than eight months on a first contract but remain far apart on key issues like wages and job security.  The Ontario Public Service Employees Union is hopeful a conciliator can help the two sides reach a collective agreement.  The centre provides several services including addressing family violence and sexual assault issues and helps problem gamblers.
