More seniors are receiving care at home and staying out of long term care facilities. That’s according to the North East Local Health Integration Network. And Doctor Samir Sinha, who was a guest speaker at a conference hosted by the LHIN, says that’s not a bad thing. Sinha says it costs tax payers $1,000 a day to support someone in a hospital. That number drops to $130 a day for long term care and it’s only $50 dollars for care at home.
