Work has begun at the Elliot Lake Boat Launch.
The new boardwalk started arriving in stages yesterday with installation over the next two weeks.
Elliot Lake CAO, Dan Gagnon, says the boardwalk area of the boat launch is now closed to the public until September 14th.
Access to one boat launch, one dock and parking will remain available for public use.
He adds a fully accessible floating boardwalk will be installed along the shoreline adjacent to the launch including seating and lighting along with non-slip composite decking for improved accessibility.
The new boardwalk is Phase 1 of the proposed Boat Launch project that is aimed at creating a tourism nodal point.
Phase 2 of the project, contingent on funding, includes the installation of a 50-metre fishing pier, replacement boat launch docks, slip docking for additional boats and related landscaping.
