Manitoulin man receives Governor General award

A long-time volunteer is being recognized with a prestigious medal for his long hours.

Roy Eaton of Manitoulin has been awarded the Governor General’s Sovereign Medal for his work with the Little Current Cruiser’s Net.

MP Carol Hughes, who represents the riding, gave Eaton the medal during the Little Current Yacht Club’s pot luck dinner.

Hughes says Eaton embodies the spirit of volunteerism.

In addition to the Cruiser’s Net, Eaton has also helped out other organizations over the years with their various events.
