Municipal politicians make the case for sustainable funding at AMO

One of the issues that municipal councils raised during the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference in Ottawa was for the Tories to introduce a sustainable funding model.

This would replace the grants program.

The argument goes that municipalities find it easier to plan for projects if they know how much money they have coming in each year.

The Mayor of North Bay was one of the politicians who raised the issue and Al McDonald says although there was interest on the government’s side, there was no commitment to switch to this type of funding model at this time.
