Elliot Lake council investigation costs released

Elliot Lake council learned last night that the bill to deal with the investigation of former councillors’ behavior was a hefty one.

City CAO Dan Gagnon released his report that the investigation over the last year has resulted in a $100,300 bill.

Gagnon says those costs cover legal advice, third party investigation, code of conduct complaints, integrity commissioner fees, among others.

Councillors Connie Nykyforak, Scot Reinhardt and Candance Martin all resigned following two investigations by the city’s integrity commissioner who found the three had overstepped their bounds.

The three have not made any public comments in regards to their resignations.
