A Sudbury police officer escaped serious injuries when he got dragged by a vehicle he had just stopped in Coniston. The officer was starting to arrest the man and woman in the car when the male driver suddenly reversed the vehicle taking along the officer. Fortunately the officer was only dragged a short distance because the getaway vehicle was quickly boxed in and stopped by another police cruiser. The officer was treated in hospital for minor injuries. The driver and passenger face drug related charges. In addition, the driver is charged with dangerous driving and assaulting a police officer with a weapon which in this case was the vehicle.
