Espanola council has given approval to the purchase of a new pumper/tanker truck.
Under the direction of council, tenders were sent out to three different companies since both the current fire trucks will be 20 years old next year.
To meet standards, the fire department must have one truck less than 20 years old.
Only one bid came back, Fort Garry Industries for a quote of $381,910.
With council’s approval last night, the new vehicle will be ordered, outfitted and is expected to be delivered next summer.
