Elliot Lake mayor-elect Dan Marchisella says a major item on his to do list is review the city’s relationship with Retirement Living. He says in the beginning the Retirement Living concept saved the town. Marchisella adds it also gave back to the community but says that giving has changed over the years. He says everyone has to play together nicely and if not, he doesn’t know where Retirement Living will head. Another issue for Marchisella is determining the feasibility of contracts past councils have signed over the years. He says this includes the golf contract that former mayor George Farkouh and his council signed with Retirement Living years ago. He says this contract changed several times. Marchisella says it’s worth determining if the golf course is better left to the private sector and not municipally-backed.
