Blind River Council Proclaims Smoke-Free Week

Students in Blind River will be out in force next week promoting a smoke-free environment.

Blind River council has proclaimed May 28th to June 1st as Smoke-Free Week following a presentation by young people in partnership with local health organizations.

The local group of young people calls themselves STEALTH.

That stands for Students, Tolerance, Education, Awareness Leading Tomorrow’s Heroes and is made up of students, both elementary and secondary, promoting a healthier lifestyle.

They partner with Algoma Public Health to assist them in their work.

Group representatives made a presentation to council on Tuesday who applauded the group’s work in the community.
