It’s not the Royal Wedding, but a Royal Garden Party

An Espanola couple may not have been at Saturday’s Royal Wedding, but it is today’s Royal Garden Party they are really looking forward to.

Greg and Janeanne Gilbert of Espanola are at Buckingham Palace today celebrating Prince Charles 70th birthday kickoff.

The Prince, who turns 70 on November 14th, is beginning his birthday celebrations with the garden party to honour the work carried out by those closest to his heart.

Today’s event will see representatives of each of the charities he is patron of, some 400 in all, as well as the military regiments he is affiliated with, visit the palace grounds for entertainment and speeches, as well as the customary garden party tea.

Janeanne told The Moose, Prince Charles is Greg Gilbert’s army unit’s Colonel-in-Chief.

Ten members of the unit, the Irish Regiment of Canada, were chosen to attend along with a guest and the Gilberts were fortunate to be selected.

The Gilberts are also thrilled to know the newlyweds, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, will also attend before jetting off on their honeymoon
