Elliot Lake mayor elect Dan Marchisella isn’t surprised he won Monday’s election. But he is surprised by the margin of victory. Marchisella believes what got him over the top is he has no past affiliations with council and other local groups. He says his win is a victory for the people who feel their voices are finally being heard. Marchisella says he went from seeing a depressed and angry community a few months ago to smiling faces and hope for a prosperous future. The mayor elect says the community has elected a strong council plus the city might see something new. Marchisella says Elliot Lake has many educated and experienced people and he plans to tap into them to help him and the new council. Marchisella says the next few weeks will be busy before he’s sworn into office December 1st. First up he’s visiting City Hall to discuss the transfer of power. He also needs to take some municipal courses between now and the time he assumes the mayoralty.
